The inaugural issue of Discourse published on March 17, 2024, presents a diverse collection of interdisciplinary studies that reflect the journal’s broad intellectual scope and critical depth from its very first edition. This issue features articles that explore topics ranging from the administrative evolution and economic policies of the Umayyad Dynasty and their implications for governance and society, to a semantic analysis of classical Arabic poetry by Abu Nawas. Contemporary issues are also addressed, including the role of digital technology in enhancing 21st-century 4C competencies, a semantic study on the concept of tasyabbuh in relation to modern celebration culture, and the management of the Muhadatsah Usbu'iyah program in Arabic language education at the university level. Altogether, this edition embodies Discourse's commitment to bridging classical scholarship and modern intellectual challenges through reflective, cross-disciplinary engagement.
